“i’m All In . . .” (take Two)

About a month and a half ago I started writing this song. I wrote all the music while home on Spring Break with my boy Eric. But I had no words, which bothered me. The reasons for that disquiting state are described here:

which inculded a sample of the music.

I wrote the words over the last two days. All of them. Mostly during the wee hours of the after-midnight hours. I guess I came to a decision, and acted on it.

So the song:

And the words are in the comments of this post.

  1. All In

“Captain, oh my captain, the ship is sinking,
‘Cause we are taking in this water!
Give the order, or we are all dead men!”
“All hands on deck,” he cried,
“To the lifeboats and you’ll survive.
But for now, for me, it’s do or die.
So goodbye my friends, ‘cause I’m all in:
Sink or swim. I’m all in.”

Sitting at a table under Vegas light: Oh isn’t it so nice?
No. Not when you’re playing for your life.
    Still he consults his cards
    And counts all the odds
But he knows tha they’re all against him
    Still he pushes his chips
Saying, “I’m all in. Lose or win.”
    I’m all in.

There’s a ring in his hip pocket as he walks along her way
And he thought it’d be his day; think again.
How many times can she say no?
How many times can his knee touch the floor?
How many times until they know?
Still he wears a grin, saying,“I’m not giving in.
I’m all in. Beginning to end. Lose or win. Sink or swim.

    I’m all . . .

  2. [Of course this is all still subject to change]
